HERO Supporters Gather Despite Weather

By Lucas Rooney

On Sunday, October 29th, the annual Hero Walk was held, raising money and awareness about the importance of being a designated driver.  Dancing, singing, games, and raffles were just some of the activities supporters enjoyed while gathering for a great cause.  Being in the Ocean City Civic Center allowed participants to stay dry from the inclement weather, though some were still able to head outside and walk for a cause they cared about.  For the first time this year, the annual event introduced a 5K run which people could also take part in.  Families came together to remember the victims of drunk driving, including John R. Elliot, whose family created the Hero Campaign seventeen years ago.  The clear message of the day?  Be a hero.  Be a designated driver.
