Holiday movies are a staple of the Christmas season. Everyone has that one movie they watch every year. Because of this, it’s hard to agree which one is the best. We’ve collected the 16 best holiday movies and had them battle it out in a fierce tournament. Today on the Current OC, we’re going to go over our results for the 2022 Holiday Movie Mayhem. The first round was pretty cut and dry with only two matchups really causing any debate. Some of you were very assertive on your opinions of Die Hard NOT being a Christmas movie, and I know I’m supposed to be unbiased but The Nightmare Before Christmas IS a Christmas movie! It has it in the title. But anyways the winners of this round with the most votes were Home Alone, Elf, The Polar Express, Nightmare Before Christmas, and A Charlie Brown Christmas. The second round was where this cool Christmas competition really started to heat up. The Matchups in the round were Home Alone vs. Rudolph, Christmas Vacation vs. Charlie Brown, Elf vs. The Polar Express, and The Muppets Christmas Carol vs. Nightmare before Christmas. Nothing too interesting to report here; most of these winners won by a landslide. The most boring round was our semi-finals, as you could have probably guessed Elf and Home Alone easily won this round. Sorry Charlie Brown but the people have spoken. So that brings us to our final round, Elf vs. Home Alone. Two of the most popular and most beloved holiday classics. We had a total of 300 votes for this competition but only one can be crowned as the true Christmas classic. The winner of the 2022 Holiday Movie Mayhem is HOME ALONE. Home Alone won by a total of 16 votes. But no matter what the best holiday movie may be, what’s important is the people you watch it with. Happy holidays!
